It fits in my pocket, is hardly noticed when I use it to take a photo and doesn’t require $5,000 in lenses. I admit I use my iPhone camera more than my Canon 5D, and I’m not ashamed to admit. No one pays me to take photos with my iPhone and I really don’t care. Added “effects” to my photos by using Apps like Histamatic or Instagr.am? No problem, I’m all for it, bring it on. I’ve always been a bad journalist believing you should drink the glass of water offered you when photographing someone in their home. Or worse yet eating dinner with your subject and becoming friends with them! Stop the presses we can’t have that. I will continue to use my 5D to take photos and shoot video, that helps pay the bills, but I will make no excuses for pulling out my mobile camera to photograph real life. Frankly as of late I’ve found it hard to disregard photos taken with a mobile device over photos taken with a “real” camera. Mobile vs. big girl camera, bring it on, I fear not, there is a place for all.
